2018 is a big year for me. I’m no longer in my twenties. I’m proposing to my girlfriend next month (shh, don’t tell). Plus, I recently stepped down from my youth pastor role at Eastwind Community Church to move into a full time position at RUJA, the nonprofit I started back in 2014.
Life moves pretty fast!
2018 is a big year for RUJA as well. We are taking on a community development role in Bunyangabu District, a newly granted district in Uganda, with a population of 170,000. Our work will initially be focused on a few villages. With success, our role will continue to expand.
As a team, we are learning, innovating and forging a new path forward for how charities empower the poor in the majority world. More importantly, we are deeply rooted in the principles of the kingdom. We believe that loving God and your neighbor is *still* necessary to changing the world.
I’m not shy about my aspirations. I want to invest my life in the kingdom and change the way we empower the poor in the majority world. RUJA is the platform that God has given me to do this. Four years after founding RUJA, this mission requires all of the time, focus, and creative energy that can only come with me moving into a full-time, paid position.
I no longer have the luxury of being shy about asking for help. I know that I cannot do this alone and, thankfully, I wasn’t meant to. I’m asking you to prayerfully consider being a part of this calling on my life with a three year commitment of prayer and monthly financial support as RUJA grows.
This will free me up to spend more time on the ground in Uganda training our local leadership, developing new strategies to empower rural Ugandans without creating unhealthy financial dependence, and managing our growing team of interns and volunteers in Boise.
The long-term success of RUJA depends on my personal fundraising success. I’m hoping to be at full support by the end of June 2018, when I will officially be full-time with the organization.
Please take some time to pray over these transitions in my life! I would love to sit down with you in the coming weeks over a meal or coffee to answer questions or fill you in on a more personal level. If you have any questions for me or our board of directors please let us know! My phone number is (208) 989-1875 if you’d like to get in touch.
